SSC is an all-volunteer company that aims to produce professional-quality productions of Shakespeare’s works. By being made up of volunteers, we are able to allow people of all nationalities to participate freely in the creation of theatre. At the same time, we aim to put on productions that are professional in quality, so that we are worth the time and effort of people who are serious about a future career in the theatre. Some of our company members work professionally as theatre/TV/film actors or voice actors in Korea, and some of our past company members are now pursuing professional careers in theatre in other countries. One of our core purposes is to provide an opportunity for English-speaking theatre people living in Korea to continue to develop their craft, while also contributing positively to Korean society.

Have a particular skill, or just want to get involved with us?

Actors: Auditions for our spring mainstage shows are typically in late November to early December. This year's auditions for The Merchant of Venice are December 2-3. See the audition announcement on our Home Page!

If you have training/experience in a particular technical area, feel free to email us at [email protected] to let us know. We are pretty well covered in technical areas at the moment, but it is always good to know that you're out there! The one area we need to fill for The Merchant of Venice is Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Managers, so if that is your area of interest, please contact us!

If you are inexperienced in theatre but well-organized, punctual, a good communicator, and passionate about involvement in theatre, being an assistant stage manager (ASM) is a good way to start. Email us at [email protected] to let us know your interest. ASMs will need to be able to attend most rehearsals, and MUST attend tech rehearsal and all performances. (See our audition announcement for The Merchant of Venice on our Home Page for the rehearsal schedule.)
